Community Access Individual (CAI) Instructor - Covington, GA (Construction)

Shift: Day Shift - Monday to Thursday
Job Hours: Part-Time (24 hours per week on average)

Under general supervision, provides a broad range of paraprofessional social services to patients/clients/consumers and their families. Conducts patient/client/consumer intakes, participates in treatment team planning, and performs crisis intervention. Assists in dealing with personal and social problems. May provide supportive counseling to consumers and families and/or serve as a liaison for social services. May perform case management duties.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides direct training and oversight to adults with Developmental Disabilities in a day habilitation program, sheltered workshop or community setting.
Participates in development of the individual service plan for each assigned consumer by providing input based on observation of skills and deficits.
Suggests goal ideas to the interdisciplinary team.
Prepares and implements activities and plans meaningful community outings with the consumer that support goals and objectives identified in the service plan.
Provides community integration and individual or small-group age-appropriate functional training activities in one or more of the following areas: self-help, language development, perceptual-motor development, simple academics, vocational/work activities, and grooming/hygiene.
Uses appropriate cues, prompts, reinforcers, and materials to promote consumer dignity and independence while adhering to the individual service plan.
Implements behavioral intervention plans and documents responses, as needed Monitors consumers to assure their safety/security and emotional and physical needs.
Assists with food preparation, service and cleanup, providing supervision and assistance to consumers as needed.
Participates in and monitors consumers during leisure activities.
Plans leisure outings in response to consumer preferences and encourages appropriate interaction between consumers and others during community integration outings.
Develops and maintains a network of community contacts and works with each consumer and family to maximize linkages to community services.
Transports consumers to and from the daily program and on community outings following all agency transportation, safety, and vehicle operation policies.
Assures that medications are available for self-administration by consumers as refills are needed.
Accounts for consumer personal spending money.
Maintains required records.
Prepares documentation of consumer activities that is complete, accurate, and legible and that meets organizational and accreditation requirements.
Maintains files of all materials in prescribed format.
Maintains the residence in a clean and organized condition.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED AND One year of experience in a social service-related position OR Two years at an accredited college or university with at least 15 credit hours in a social services related field.
Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid driver's license.
High school diploma or GED.
1 year experience with similar work experience.
Requirements/Competencies:
Must be able to lift 20 pounds
Requires long periods of sitting/standing
Must have valid Georgia driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy
Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting)
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens
Any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license
