Human Resources Specialist - Accommodations & Leave / Benefits & Payroll Support (Administrative)
We are abehavioral healthcare company that employs a variety of healthcare professionals including: Licensed Therapists, School Based Counselors, Substance Use Disorder Professionals, Psychiatrists, Advance Practice Registered Nurses, Community Based practitioners and administrative staff.You will play a pivotal role in enabling Nystrom to build on its reputation as a leader in the area of behavioral and substance use disorder healthcare; and you will have a profound impact on the successful operations of the business and our employees and enabling us to better serve the mental health needs of our local communities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, and Missouri.
Job Duties:
Processing Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Ensure employees needing leave are given notice of their Rights & Responsibilities when it comes to FMLA compliance and provide ongoing employee education on this.Researching and knowing current applicable FMLA guidelines.Assist staff in navigating and completing FMLA paperwork & benefits forms as it relates to leave.Offer high-level benefits explanations and help facilitate contact with NAL Benefits Manager for individual inquiries at it pertains to leave, short-term, long-term disability, etc.Highlight HR/handbook policies & procedures as it relates to leave.Create trainings and collaborate with Operations Leadership and other supervisors how to recognize and support staff that report to them to ensure leave compliance is maintained.Collect FMLA forms and documentationMaintain appropriate FMLA files for individual staffCommunicate with various levels of the organization about an employees FMLA leave, return to work date, etc.Collect Fitness for Duty forms as appropriate
Processing State Specific Leaves
Researching and knowing current applicable state leave guidelines.Maintain state leave records as appropriate.Assist staff in navigating and completing state specific paperwork & benefits forms as it relates to leave.Offer high-level benefits explanations and help facilitate contact with NAL Benefits Manager for individual inquiries at it pertains to state applicable leave, short-term, long-term disability, etc.
Processing personal and other Leaves of Absence
Maintaining consistency across the organization with reasons to allow for a personal leave of absenceCollect any necessary paperwork for a personal leave.Collect Fitness for Duty forms as appropriate.Offer high-level benefits explanations and help facilitate contact with NAL Benefits Manager for individual inquiries at it pertains to leave, short-term, long-term disability, etc.
Workers Compensation Administration
Completing first report of injury interviews with staff when an injury has been reported.Report injuries to appropriate workers compensation carrier, and employees supervisor when applicable.Send employee any communication from workers compensation carrier as necessary.Assist with workers compensation investigations as lead by workers compensation staff.Assist with collecting appropriate documentation from the injured employee such as medical reports, insurance records, leave records, etc.Assist with NAL safety initiatives based on injury trends.Maintain appropriate OSHA reports on an ongoing basis.Complete annual safety compliance surveys as required by various outside entities.Direct injured staff of their rights and responsibilities, and necessary leaves when appropriate due to work related injury.Provide ongoing workers comp and safety education for Operations Management, and other supervisors as necessary.
Accommodation Requests
Collect all necessary Americans with Disability Act (ADA) paperwork.Work directly with employee and their medical professional for coordination of reasonable accommodations.Work with employees supervisor to provide guidance on appropriate reasonable accommodations.Ensure consistency with ADA requests and accommodations.Work with Operations team to order appropriate accommodation equipment, as recommended by employees medical professional.Maintain compliance with ADA requirements
