Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer (Finance)
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Lead Mechanical Designer: Works as a member of a cross-disciplinary team of systems engineers, optical engineers, FPGA engineers, and software engineers. Responsible for execution throughout all phases of the product design cycle including concept development, detail design, qualification, and transition to manufacturing. Leads and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support customer design requirements and acceptance. Responsible for troubleshooting and support of technical issues that could arise during the manufacture and test of prototype and deliverable product and for assessing root cause and generating corrective action plans as necessary. Serve as the primary customer interface for mechanical design on major government/aerospace programs.
New Business Development: Participates in writing proposals and providing cost and schedule estimates in support of new business pursuits.
Technical Expertise: Serves as one of the organization's subject matter experts with extensive knowledge and expertise in mechanical design. Extensive knowledge and expertise with extremely complex assignments that very few employees can master. Work is accomplished without considerable direction. Implements new products, processes, standards or operational plans that will have impact on the achievement of functional results.
Education & Experience
Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 10 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 7 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
