Solid Waste – GIS Intern
Temp 6: Starting Hourly Rate: $18.68
Work Schedule: 32 – 40 hours per week, flexible hours available between Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm.
(This is a temporary position and can work 3-4 consecutive months)
The Solid Waste (GIS) Intern reports to GIS Specialist in the Public Works Unit at the City of Ann Arbor.
Nature of Work:
Collect field data with handheld GPS or tablet and camera for location and count of recycling carts for various commercial and multi-family locations with the City of Ann Arbor.
Data entry and quality control of information for recycle carts, customer information and other infrastructure sources into the City's GIS. Create maps and generate reports from the GIS, databases and spreadsheets.
The City will provide hands-on training and software training for any hardware or software (outside of standard ArcGIS desktop software) used to manage recycle cart information and assets.

Move and lift objects up to 20 lbs. such as mail, files and supplies. Move and drag objects up to 50 lbs. such as concrete handhole lids. Walk for extended distances up to 5 miles, with intermittent kneeling and crouching.
