The purpose of this position is to support environmental and hazardous materials compliance by assisting the Environmental Compliance Manager (ECM) in executing day to day compliance monitoring and control tasks, as defined by the ECM and senior management. To accomplish this, the Environmental Analyst will work under direction of the ECM to monitor and ensure execution of required processes and policies which, in turn provides assurance that the programs meet or exceed goals by which the integrity of our company will be evaluated by our customers, peers, and governmental regulatory agencies. To that end, this position will work primarily with Support and Distribution to assist them with day-to-day process support of environmental and hazardous materials compliance programs companywide. This position will also assist with Retail programs when necessary. This position will also work under the direction of the ECM to assist in identifying and developing/ revising processes, policies and programs, as needed or required to ensure compliance, continuous improvement, and efficiency across all operations.

Responsibilities:
assisting with identifying and evaluating certain transportation loads as well as providing information on the requirements for their transport both by inside Publix's transportation team and outside third-party transporters
assisting with hazardous waste program activities
requesting, reviewing and following-up, with direction from ECM, on facility transportation audits, which necessitates a good understanding of US DOT requirements
High School diploma or its equivalent
ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format
ability to effectively manage workload, including organizational skills

knowledge of structured writing
intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint

Associate or Bachelor's degree in a business or environmental science related field from an accredited university
1 or more years support of environmental programs in a corporate or consulting environment
general knowledge of all Publix operations, including retail, manufacturing, warehousing and support
DOT certified
knowledge of Publix organizational and corporate structure
knowledge of Publix policies including code of ethics, philosophy, mission and vision
knowledge of various hazardous materials programs and hazardous waste rules
general knowledge of government agencies and how regulatory rule programs are applied to the regulated community
