The A Crecer Study Phase 2 is the extension of the A Crecer Study Phase 1 (the Salinas Teen Health Study), a prospective cohort study of approximately 600 Latine youth who enrolled in the study in 8th grade ~age 13. Phase 1 was conducted in partnership with the Monterey County Health Department and Natividad Medical Center in Salinas with many community collaborators. The study is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and led by researchers in the Women's Global Health Imperative research program at RTI International (based in Berkeley) and the University of California – San Francisco. This project will extend the work done in Phase 1 to examine structural and social factors that affect Latine youth's sexual health outcomes and well-being. Beginning in November 2024, Phase 2 is expanding and will be enrolling new study participants. In this supplement of phase 2, the goal is to understand influences on sexual health outcomes among Latine sexual and gender minority (SGM) adolescents and young adults (AYA), such as those who identify as LGBTQI+. With this information, the goal is to develop interventions that can help improve sexual health and well-being for Latine youth during the period of early adulthood.
