Senior Data Analyst (Finance)

Join a leading company in the Maritime Industry in a critical role on our IT team! Moran Towing Corporation ( www.morantug.com ) has an exciting opportunity available as a Senior Data Analyst in our Jacksonville, FL office . This is a hybrid role that will require you to work in the office 3 days per week. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Director, Business Applications.

Position Summary

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for leading and mentoring a team of data analysts, gathering data, profiling data, prepping data, modeling data, and developing reports and datasets to be used by all facets of the business. This role ensures data accuracy, fosters innovation in data strategies, and acts as a key liaison between business units and the Data team to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. The Senior Data Analyst collaborates closely with stakeholders, the Data team, and IT leadership to design and implement scalable data solutions, optimize analytics workflows, and uphold data governance standards. Additionally, the role involves analyzing data stored in on-premises Data Warehouses, Azure Data Lake, and Synapse, as well as creating visually appealing reports and dashboards using Power BI.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data analysts, providing guidance and support.
• Gathers and translates complex business requirements into actionable data models, reports, and analytics strategies.
• Writes and optimizes advanced queries in multiple languages such as SQL, DAX, and Python.
• Designs, develops, and oversees the creation of reports, data sets, data flows, and data marts in Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and other analytics tools.
• Works with Data Architect for data models and implements best practices for data integration and analytics pipelines.
• Uses and enhances Moran's data warehouse to support enterprise analytics initiatives.
• Transforms and moves data in multiple formats and sources using Azure Data Factory, SQL Server Integration Services, and Power Query
• Creates and implements strategies for a wide variety of use cases, such as data migrations (end-to-end ETL/ELT processes), database optimization, and advanced data architecture solutions for analytics projects.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop automated dashboards to monitor them.
• Analyze large and complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
• Use statistical techniques, machine learning models, and data mining tools to interpret data and drive business strategy.
• Conduct data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency across systems.
• Lead efforts to create comprehensive visualizations and storytelling dashboards to help stakeholders understand complex data.
• Gain and share in-depth knowledge of the company's business processes, workflows, and systems to align data analysis efforts with organizational goals.
• Advocate for and implement data governance practices and ensure compliance with data security and privacy standards.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Creates and manages computing and data resources in Moran's on-premises servers and Cloud environments (Azure and AWS).
• Supports and optimizes SQL Server services.
• Programs and scripts using C#, Python, R, PowerShell, JSON, and XML.
• Shares responsibility for performing and maintaining backups, restores, high availability, disaster recovery, and security.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
• At least 6 years' experience working in the field of Data Analytics or Data Warehousing.
• Proven track record of leading data analysis projects and mentoring junior analysts.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, and SQL Data Warehouse.
• Experience with data visualization best practices.
• Proficiency with programming languages such as C#, Python or R.
• Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts and optimization techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to be a strong individual contributor and team player, including the ability to constructively interact with all departments and employee levels.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to effectively prioritize and work on multiple projects.
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a passion for innovation and data-driven decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Business Intelligence tools and methodologies
• Knowledge of the maritime industry.

Pay Transparency

Moran Towing Corporation offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our target pay range for the Senior Data Analyst position is $110,000 -$120,000 per year. This pay range represents Moran's commitment to pay transparency and is a reasonable estimate of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate's exact location, experience, and expertise related to the qualifications.
