Risk Manager (Administrative)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Risk Manager is responsible for placing and maintaining insurance coverage for a multi-faceted hospitality and habitational company, including various types of properties located throughout the United States and two foreign countries. In addition, The Risk manager is responsible for working with various brokers to place and renew insurance coverage for numerous corporate entities that administer and manage the various companies and locations. The Risk Manager also is responsible for handling claims, including complex claims involving natural disasters related to hurricanes, fires, liability, and all events and occurrences that create risk for the entities involved, working with adjusters and contractors. The Risk Manager coordinates with many levels of the company, from employees to General and Area Managers and upper management to help create a safe and protected workplace and environment. The Risk Manager is strongly involved with the Legal and Accounting departments to assure contract compliance for properties and contractors, and to oversee accurate billing and invoices for all insurance policies and claims. Occasional travel is involved in the Risk Manager's duties.

Education/Credentials
Four-year degree in business required
Minimum credentials of Certified Insurance Counselor required, and strongly prefer Associate of Risk Management or Certified Risk Manager credentials
Experience
This position requires 3 to 5 years' experience coordinating risk and insurance for commercial insurance clients or companies with exposure to various commercial risk. Experience in handling catastrophic risk claims is strongly preferred, with direct experience with coastal properties.
Experience negotiating insurance policy rates and policy language with brokers and insurers to properly protect from risk is required.
An understanding of underwriting is strongly preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Risk Manager works primarily in an office environment. Occasional travel up to 10 to 20% of the time to different company locations for various reasons including assessments of properties and working on potential claims. More travel may be required during the on-boarding phase. By the nature of the work, occasional evenings and weekends are required, depending on many circumstances including emergencies and the needs of the company.
