(Temporary) Licensed Vocational Nurse (Healthcare)
Position Summary:
The LVN supports the treatment team by administering medications, monitoring vital signs, assisting with procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and education. This role is responsible for accurate documentation of patient care, coordination of appointments, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. The LVN also plays a key role in infection control and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for patients in an outpatient setting.
Qualifications:
1. Licensed as either a registered nurse (RN) or licensed vocational nurse (LVN).
2. Experience working with children for at least two years prior to employment.
3. A valid California drivers license is required of staff who have regular driving duties and the driving record must meet the requirements of their position and be approved by the agencys insurance company.

Responsibilities:
1. Properly administers all medication to day treatment/school children in compliance with title 22 and Medi-cal requirements.
2. Maintains accurate records of medication administration and inventory.
3. Inventory of all in-coming and outgoing medications and monthly inventory of stored medications.
4. Alerts physician and clinical staff when child is due for medication review and/or refill.
5. Contact parents regarding need for medication refill.
6. Prepares and ensures consent forms, medication informed consent forms, and other forms are completed and signed.
7. Ensures that consent forms are signed and on file prior to administration of medication.
8. Ensures that current physician's order is on file prior to administration of medication.
9. Informs physician when lab work is due (every three months), according to agency policy.
10. Responsible for scheduling all client appointments with psychiatrist.
11. Provides list of children to be seen by the physician and the reason for visit.
12. Schedules parent appointments when required for medication issues.
13. Monitors to ensure that all physician progress notes are completed and filed.
14. Responsible for developing appropriate health-related in-service for staff.
15. Responsible for developing appropriate health education for client children.
16. Conducts regular instruction in health-related topics to staff and client children.
17. Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct our infection control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines set forth by regulation and the agency.
18. Develop, maintain, and periodically update Infection Control Plan and associated forms to address and correct problem areas.
19. Develop and maintain a good rapport with all services involved with the care plan to ensure that a team effort is achieved in developing the resident's total regimen of care in preventing and controlling infections.
20. Effectively utilize the electronic health record and ensure current authorization and required documents are complete for medication services.
21. Schedule client medication appointments.
22. Manage medication refills and complete prior authorization and Treatment Authorization Requests.
23. Maintain medication roster, JV-220 logs, and spreadsheets.
24. Facilitate and ensure legal consent for medication is obtained for all clients.
25. Work directly with medical providers and client on adverse reaction to medication to resolve concern.
26. Receive verbal orders and follow agency policy to complete.
27. Monitor to ensure medical providers complete lab work, progress notes and related paperwork in a timely manner.
28. Participate monthly in BHRS Nurses meeting and MD/RN Peer Review.
29. Facilitate Medic First Aid Training.
30. Chair Medication management committee.
