Water/Wastewater Services Engineering Intern (Engineering)
Essential Duties
Assist with the day to day responsibilities of the W/WW Engineering staff including implementation of capital projects, providing technical support to field teams, and providing technical engineering services. Perform inspection of construction activities and assist with water quality sampling and inspection testing. Complete site plan reviews for private development projects and participate in the private development process. Assist with public outreach for construction projects and maintenance programs. Update infrastructure data in GIS by interpreting as-built data, service cards, or other verbal/written input. Generate procurement documents and oversee contracted repair or rehabilitation projects. Assist in determining proper configuration and programming of lift station and pump station controls. Prepare pay estimates, contract modifications and record drawings. Perform all other tasks as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in engineering, construction management, surveying, or related An interest to pursue a career in public utilities, civil construction, or project management. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with various levels of organizational.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with GIS or AutoCAD applications. Experience working in utilities, construction, water chemistry, or related industry.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Normal office environment with minimum discomfort due to noise, dirt and dust. Field work with light physical activity to assist in project activities. Mental ability to frequently handle pressures related to working on projects requiring attention to detail, and the simultaneous management of multiple projects.
