Job Title: Field Service Technician
Location: Customer Site / Field-Based
Pay Rate: $32.00 - $57.00 per hour (Based on education and experience)

At Wagner Equipment Co., we believe in working as One Professional Team. As a Field Service Technician, you'll be on the front lines, delivering expert-level diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on CAT heavy equipment at our customers' locations. You'll play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly and safely, all while building strong relationships with our valued clients.
With some direct supervision, you'll take on the responsibility of delivering high-quality service and representing the Wagner brand in the field. Your core duties will include:
Performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy equipment at customer sites
Accurately completing service reports with attention to detail, proper grammar, and correct SIMS codes
Communicating effectively with customers about repair progress, parts status, and service needs
Collaborating with the Service, Product Support, and Sales departments to exceed customer expectations
Maintaining accurate job records, receipts, and other documentation for internal use
Teaching and mentoring junior field technicians
Promoting Wagner Equipment Co.'s services and solutions to customers
Using hydraulic and electrical schematics to guide repair work
Safely rigging and handling equipment components
Making on-site warranty repair decisions in coordination with dispatch and customer teams
Ensuring all tools and service vehicles are in proper working condition and compliant with OSHA/MSHA regulations
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required
Completion of relevant CAT technical courses preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience servicing heavy equipment
At least 1 year of administrative/clerical experience
3+ years of customer service and sales experience
Certifications & Requirements:
DOT Health Card
Valid Class D Driver's License
MSHA License
Skills & Competencies:
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, DBS, ET, SIS, SIS Web, and STW
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Effective communication, organizational, and customer service skills
In-depth knowledge of CAT equipment and repair techniques
Field-based role with 75% - 100% travel required
Exposure to loud environments; work performed both indoors and outdoors
Must be able to lift/move objects up to 100 lbs
Frequent standing, climbing, sitting, and use of hand tools
Regular use of phone, computer, and digital service documentation tools
