Senior Commercial Loan Officer (Finance)
Responsible for developing new business and commercial loans, as well as maintaining and servicing a commercial loan portfolio. Counsels and advises customers and potential clients based on knowledge of lending, credit underwriting, and treasury solutions to protect and grow their business. Interviews applicants and assesses loan risks. Structures loan terms and conditions to meet the business needs and the Bank's lending guidelines. Participates in preparing credit presentations, identifying key risk and compensating factors. Makes decisions on loans and terms within established lending limits, or makes recommendations to loan committee. Assists junior lenders in the areas of new business development, loan analysis and servicing. Follows the status of the loan request through the loan process. Works with other Bank departments and assists with supporting the credit department in the development and analysis of financial background data for new or renewed loans. Represents the bank in its market area through active participation in community events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Knowledge & Skills
Experience
• Five or more years of commercial lending experience.
• Thorough knowledge of loan policy, credit procedures and credit analysis.
• Experience with various loan types, SBA, CRE, C&I, Credit Lines, Participations, and others with the knowledge to structure loan terms appropriately.
• Knows commercial loan documentation, including security documents (including but not limited to UCC's, Security Agreements, Real Estate Mortgages).
• Understands how to analyze a Real Estate Appraisal and an Evaluation.
• Understands how to analyze an Environmental report.
• Experience with or knowledge of specialized lending - first time business owners, hotels, construction and development, restaurants, retail, non-owner occupied CRE.
• Understands the legal process including bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossession..
• Experience working with regulatory compliance.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
A bachelor's degree is preferred. Completes NMLS registration requirements. A driver's license is required.

• Effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to write reports, business correspondence, present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
• Effective critical thinking skills with the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.
• Effective customer service skills providing responsive support throughout the relationship.

• Effective leadership skills providing ongoing support for other commercial team members and assisting with their personal growth and development.
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.
Physical Requirements
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, scanner, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
Working Conditions
Regular in-office attendance required.
