JOB SUMMARY
Empyrean Benefit Solutions is seeking a Data Analytics Intern to support our data and analytics team in delivering insights that enhance our benefit administration software and services. This role will assist in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to drive business decisions and improve client experiences. The intern will work with large datasets, create reports, and identify trends to optimize operational efficiency and strategic planning. This hands-on opportunity offers exposure to benefit administration data, business intelligence tools, and data-driven decision-making within the HR technology industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect, clean, and analyze benefits administration and employee benefits data.
- Develop reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.
- Support data validation and quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy.
- Conduct statistical analysis and predictive modeling to enhance business insights.
- Assist in the development of automation processes for data reporting and analytics.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including product development, client services, and operations, to translate data into actionable business recommendations.
- Research trends in benefits administration, healthcare analytics, and HR technology to support strategic initiatives.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to process improvement projects and documentation efforts.
- Support ad hoc data analysis requests from business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
- Basic programming skills in Python or R for data analysis (preferred).
- Familiarity with statistical concepts and machine learning techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Interest in benefits administration, HR technology, and employee benefits data.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Coursework or experience with data manipulation and visualization tools.
- Understanding of database management and querying languages (e.g., SQL).
- Experience with business intelligence tools or HR analytics is a plus.
