Team Lead (Manufacturing)

SUMMARY & SCOPE: This is a working lead role that oversees assigned operations functions. These functions can include: receiving, inventory control, material scheduling, material processing, shipping, and packaging to meet the business objectives of inventory management and customer fulfillment and satisfaction. Works directly with operations personnel at local district and sales personnel from all locations. Close interaction with sales, product management, and Samuel Support Service personnel to provide excellent customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Lead the team to execute to all safety, quality and delivery expectations.

· Maintain clean and organized work areas.

· Safety and operational training for the loading team.

· Assess daily loading requirements and assign work assignments.

· Utilize the AS400 system to verify order requirements and inventory info.

· Make decisions that balance top notch customer service with managing costs.

· Maintain communication with the production and commercial team via email.

· Back up supervisor and support with training initiatives

· Verify quality checks are being completed.

· Process all related paperwork.

· Report any maintenance issues with the equipment.

· Verify that the load plans are met and report any issues that come up.

· Verify inventory is being managed correctly.

· Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

· Strong organizational skills with ability to plan and execute special projects to gain operational efficiencies and effectiveness.

· Excellent communication skills (written and oral).

· Proficient at personal computing to include the ability to send and receive electronic mail, create documents, and spread sheets.

· Ability to assist, when requested, in the interview or review process of operations staff.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

· Operate all equipment safely and effectively – including certification for forklifts and overhead cranes, as well as general training for sideloaders, miscellaneous electric, pneumatic, and manual hand tools.

· Proficient at the operation of steel handling/processing equipment.

· Familiar with ISO 9000 (a plus)

· Proficient at AS400 or similar

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Standing for long periods of time.

· Bending, stooping, and pushing

· Ability to lift 50 lbs (22.7kg) maximum occasionally with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs (11.3kg).
