Temporary Financial Analyst (Finance)
Job summary:
The position, Senior Financial Analyst, provides accurate and timely monthly forecasting reports based on his/her one-on-one interaction with the staff responsible for providing baseline information and coordination for the financial management of IEEE-Standards Association (IEEE-SA) cost centers. He/she will resolve any financial discrepancies, as required.
He/she will manage the completion of the financial reporting process for IEEE-SA Working Group annual audits. He/she will be accountable for completing legal and financial reporting from Standards Working Groups.
He/she will manage the IEEE-SA Concentration Banking Program:
· The incumbent in this position is responsible for tracking and monitoring the project progress, setting up QA UAT documents to be distributed to the SA Volunteers, coordinating project requirements/activities, and producing the various documentation associated with project lifecycles.
The role typically functions as an individual contributor with no direct reports. This position must be able to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment and recommend process improvements to the Director, Business Finance Solutions CEE, CA, HR, SA, SA Working Groups, EA, and IEEE-USA.
1. Financial Analysis and Reporting. He/she meets with all relevant stakeholders to compile and analyze financial information to prepare and executing monthly forecasts. He/she identifies key areas when analyzing information: he/she identifies patterns, trends, and/or missing data and reconciles all discrepancies. He/she performs financial analyses to support business cases, and provides periodic updates on financial progress to management, governance boards, and other relevant volunteers. He/she manages the annual IEEE-SA profit-and-loss process and ensures accurate and timely financial reports. He/she engages in research from multiple financial information sources for purposes of providing quarterly financial information on the IEEE-SA's lines of business to senior management and governance boards. He/she works with SA Senior and volunteer leadership (mostly, the SA Treasurer) with questions on SA financials.
2. Budgeting and Capital Budget Creation. He/she manages the creation and organization of the annual operating budget process by arranging the initial kick-off meeting and by assembling and disseminating critical information to key IEEE-SA participants in the budgeting process. He/she develops the IEEE-SA capital budget in conjunction with the SA and IEEE Information Technology staff. He/she prepares the IEEE-SA annual capital budget by gathering and screening requirements and
requests. He/she ensures timelines are attached and adhered to each piece of leased equipment and avoids costs associated with late equipment returns.
3. General Ledger Cost Accounting. He/she masters the IEEE cost center structure and uses it as the IEEE-SA financial foundation. He/she is knowledgeable of processes, such as line transfers to correct monthly actuals, and the reconciliation of year-end accruals and deferrals. He/she understands the flow of accounting information that impacts IEEE-SA financials. He/she works closely with IEEE accounting staff to ensure general ledger cost accounting accuracy.
4. Compliance and Audit. He/she prepares annual compliance reports, and manages the execution of the L50-S reporting process for annual audits. The incumbent schedules and executes the annual kick-off, including design and implementation of communications to appropriate staff liaisons and volunteer groups, updating of pertinent information and the Web page. He/she reviews all financial certification report submissions. He/she ensures prompt follow-up with non-compliant groups and prepares action reports for the IEEE-SA Standards Board.
Program Management. He/she manages the IEEE-SA Next Generation Banking Central Program, including volunteer oversight, financial support, and coordination with the IEEE Treasury Department.
