Safety Management Systems (SMS) Manager
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Airfield Operations and Compliance Senior Manager, this position is responsible for conducting regulatory inspections of both Movement and Non-movement areas, ensuring compliance with safety regulations under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 139. This role involves monitoring hazard reporting systems, updating safety manuals and local rules, and leading safety meetings and training initiatives to promote a culture of safety. The SMS Manager orchestrates safety promotion events, facilitates risk management assessments, and investigates the root causes of incidents and accidents to enhance operational safety. Additionally, the SMS Manager oversees the performance of the SMS program, ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations while directly supervising SMS Supervisors.

COMPENSATION: $85,000/annually

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Responsible for their subordinate employee's welfare and care, individual training in the conduct of their duties and mentoring.
· Reviews subordinates work performance, conducts open and honest performance check-ins, appraisals, initiates corrective action or discipline as necessary.
· Ensures subordinates meet authority standards in personal appearance, maintains and accounts for equipment as instructed.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)
· Bachelor's degree in aviation safety or aviation management or other related field or equally relevant experience in a directly related profession. Master's degree preferred.
· Three (3) years of experience at a Part 139 commercial airport (small, medium, or large hub airport as listed in the Federal Aviation Administration guide or a minimum) or (5) years of commercial airport safety experience in a small, medium, or large hub airport.
· Two (2) years supervisory experience.
· Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.
· AAAE C.M. and/or ACE Operations credential.
· Must possess a valid, current Florida Class D Driver License at the level required for the position when operating an Authority vehicle or driving on behalf of the Authority.

· AAAE SMS credentials.
