Bus Driver - Senior Living (Project Management)
Shift: Varies from 7am-5pm with frequent evening pickups
SUMMARY: The Bus Driver has a primary responsibility with ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the residents while transporting to and from activities and/or appointments inside and outside of the community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Safely transports residents to and from outings, medical appointments, and other external locations on time, ensuring appointment adherence and resident safety.
Communicates with the facility via radio/cell phone to confirm accurate drop-offs and pick-ups of residents.
Ensures the bus is always sufficiently fueled.
Reports any accidents or incidents involving the bus immediately.
Helps maintain the bus in good working condition, performing minor repairs and reporting major issues to the Executive Director. Keeps the bus clean and organized.
Assists residents on and off the bus using ramps, wheelchair tie-downs, and other equipment safely. Reports any accidents or injuries involving residents or employees during transport.
Assists with transportation training for staff and volunteers.
Supports various community activities as needed.
Adheres to facility privacy practices and all HIPAA regulations regarding resident and employee records, including information accessed through electronic systems.
Demonstrates teamwork, regular attendance, and punctuality to ensure quality care and services for residents.
Follows proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by Bloodborne Pathogens Standards, ensuring its provision, use, and maintenance.
The position requires physical tasks such as standing, sitting, stooping, lifting up to 75 pounds, bending, climbing, twisting, walking, running, carrying, and using a telephone, with exposure to medical equipment and individuals with potential health risks.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months experience transporting persons and/or training preferred. Meets state and federal requirements.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Good-standing and current Operator's License. CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
